You can ask us to delete your BhattaExpert account and the data linked to it at any time. This page explains how, what happens to your subscription, what is deleted, what the law requires us to keep, and for how long. It applies to the BhattaExpert Android app, the web dashboard and this website.
Step-by-step guide (Hindi / English): bhattaexpert.com/hi/account-deletion
1. How to delete — in the app
- Open the BhattaExpert app and log in (OTP or password).
- Go to और (More) → खाता और डेटा हटाएँ (Delete account and data). The screen lists every bhatta that will be deleted with you.
- Tap OTP भेजें, enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number, and confirm.
Owners who want to delete only one bhatta (and keep the others) can do so from that bhatta’s settings: और → भट्टा हटाएँ, typing the bhatta’s name to confirm.
2. How to delete — by email
If you cannot use the app, send an email to [email protected] from the email ID registered on your BhattaExpert account, with the subject “Delete my BhattaExpert account”, and include:
- your registered mobile number and name;
- the names of the bhattas (businesses) to delete, or “all”;
- optionally, the reason.
If no email ID is registered on your account, write from any email and include your registered mobile number: before acting we will confirm the request with an OTP or a call to that number. We do not act on requests we cannot verify. We confirm receipt within 7 days and the request then follows the same steps as one made in the app.
3. What happens immediately when you ask
- Ongoing subscriptions are cancelled at once for every bhatta you own (or the one bhatta you are deleting). They will not renew, and any pending payment links or unpaid invoices are cancelled.
- You are logged out on every phone and browser.
- The bhatta(s) become locked: you and your staff (muneem, manager, drivers…) can no longer make entries. You can still log in to export your data or to cancel the deletion.
- Cancelling a subscription because of a deletion request is not a refund. Refunds, if any, are given only as described in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
4. The 30-day cooling-off period — and paying again
- Nothing is erased for 30 days, so a mistaken or unauthorised request can be stopped.
- To stop it, log in again within 30 days and tap हटाना रोकें (Cancel deletion), or email us from your registered email ID.
- If you cancel, your data stays as it was, but your old subscription does not come back. To use your bhatta(s) again you will need to pay again for a new subscription (we send you a fresh payment link). Unused time or money from the cancelled subscription is not carried over, except where the refund policy gives a refund.
5. What is deleted after 30 days
- Your login: name, mobile number, email, password and photo. The mobile number becomes free and can register again as a brand-new, empty account; old data cannot be brought back.
- For bhattas you own: personal details of workers, thekedars, customers, suppliers, drivers and land owners (phone numbers, addresses, bank/UPI details, Aadhaar, notes), their photos and documents, delivery photos and signatures, voice notes, and Ask Bhatta (AI) chats.
- All staff access to those bhattas ends; API keys and integrations are switched off.
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
6. What we must keep, and for how long
- Indian tax and company law (GST Act, Income-tax Act, Companies Act) requires business books to be kept. Invoices, payments, ledgers and stock records of deleted bhattas are kept for 8 years, with personal details removed and access closed, and are then permanently deleted.
- Our own billing records of your BhattaExpert subscription (our tax invoices to you) are kept for the same legal period.
- Security and audit logs are kept for their normal retention period (90–400 days) and then deleted.
- Copies in encrypted backups disappear as those backups expire in the normal backup cycle; backups are never used to restore deleted accounts.
- We may keep data longer only where a law, a court or an ongoing legal claim requires it.
7. If you are staff (muneem, manager, driver…)
Deleting your account removes your login and your personal profile only. The bhatta belongs to its owner: entries you made (production, attendance, payments, sales) remain part of that bhatta’s records and are shown as made by “Deleted user”. To have business records deleted, the bhatta’s owner must request it. Your personal data inside a bhatta’s records (for example as a worker) can be removed by the owner or on request to the owner.
8. Before you delete
- Owners can download all their data first: Settings → Export (web dashboard). Export stays available while the deletion is pending.
- Settle dues with your workers and customers outside the app; after deletion their details can no longer be looked up in BhattaExpert.
